SAM - Systematic Abuse of Males
We offer a bespoke service, with each case being treated on its individual circumstances. SAM offers a wide range of successful support options. These include a wholly confidential and non-judgmental advisory counselling and guidance service, positive life coaching, and self confidence - esteem and awareness work. We understand what it is like to suffer domestic violence or abuse in all its forms. We help abused males regain control of their lives and where possible, work towards the maintaining of the relationship. In addition to this, we work independently with abusers, focusing on the many aspects of their behaviour, we provide: advisory counselling, self esteem, and where suitable - anger management awareness as part of the abuser self management process. It is important that the abuser takes responsibility for their actions, and understands the hurt they cause. In certain circumstances, after individual assessment, and partner cooperation, this has proved positively beneficial to eventually working jointly with domestic couples. If you are a service provider who would like to make referrals or to know more about SAM, then please do contact us via email.
Let's talk
What we do.
The majority of abused males do suffer in silence. Gradually, self doubt sets in, followed by a loss of self esteem. Confidence disappears as the reality attached to domestic abuse strikes home - life begins to take a downward spiral and shame, embarrassment, and very often, a false belief that the abuse endured is deserved, begins to take hold.
So who do abused males turn to? Is the same level of support as that provided to abused females available locally or nationally? Do local authority staff, health service personnel, or housing officers have an understanding and knowledge base to help and support abused males? Documented fact dictates that across the United Kingdom, the vast majority of domestic abuse fora don't provide abused male services and simply signpost to helplines.
Research shows that in the main, those suffering domestic violence or abuse don't want heavy handed enforcement action taken against their partner, or complex and expensive legal proceedings. They simply want the violence or abuse to stop. They want to maintain the relationship on equal terms - without the violence or abuse.
SAM is NOT a helpline service, albeit a pre-arranged telephone counselling service is available for clients.
